More recently those ski lifts have been turned to good use in the summer as Mountain & Road Biking has come to Morzine.
Throughout all this time many people have come to Morzine for more timeless reasons. The hills and mountains around the town provide an inexhaustible supply of hikes. Many of these trails allow walkers to study some of the fabulous flowers and plants which grow on the mountain slopes in summer. Lucky visitors will also catch sight of some of the animals to which these mountains are home.
Despite its thriving tourist activities, Morzine remains an authentic town, with traditions and history dating back several centuries. The 17th century church and the pretty town hall are the focus of the present day community. Throughout the summer, traditional events and activities organised by the town ensure that every visitor has an insight into the life of the town.
Restful days may be spent sampling the shops, cafes and restaurants of Morzine itself or perhaps Thonon or Evian which are both 45 minutes drive away on the shores of the magnificent Lake Geneva. The medieval village of Yvoire sits on the shore of Lake Geneva and is well worth a visit, perhaps combined with a trip on one of the magnificent Swiss paddle steamers. For a full day out many of our clients take a day out to visit the larger towns of Annecy or Chamonix, both around an hour and a half away by car.
